Rose Calendars triumphs at 2012 National Calendar Awards
Posted on 14/02/2012
Although here at Rose Calendars we are no strangers to winning awards for our calendar designs and production quality, this year’s National Calendar Awards proved even more successful than previous events: a total of four trophies were won in a variety of categories.
The prestigious award contest, now being judged in its 30th year and recognised as the biggest event within the calendar industry, was held last month at the Stationers’ Hall in Central London, a beautiful venue very appropriate for the occasion given its long history of publishing and printing dating back to the 15th century.
A judging panel of 10 industry experts, from the fields of photography, design, typography, as well as the print and paper industries, had more entries to consider than ever before. Categories included both corporate and retail calendars as well as bespoke calendars and ‘Excellence in Production’. Although up against strong competition, amongst others the famous ‘Pirelli’ calendar, it was the Rose Calendars title ‘Natural Contrasts’ this much sought after accolade was awarded to. This contemporary glamour calendar features renowned glamour photographer Mick Payton’s highly artistic, skillful and elegant black and white nude photography and is enhanced by the use of metallic inks.
Rose Calendars work with many well-known artists and photographers and hold exclusive rights to some of their work. As well as working closely with Mick Payton on the glamour side, a further special bond exists between the company and internationally acclaimed Scottish photographer Colin Prior, who has become a household name over recent years and whose calendars, prints and books are proving popular not just in Scotland and the UK but worldwide. Although widely available to retail customers, Colin Prior’s corporate calendars are exclusively available through Rose Calendars and a delighted Rose team accepted not one but two awards for the ‘Colin Prior’ wall calendar: one in the category ‘Best Corporate Stock Calendar – Scenic/ Landscape’ and the other as winner of the special ‘Fred Kendrick Award for Outstanding Business Calendar of the Year’.
Colin Prior was extremely delighted with the results and, although he wasn’t able to attend the award ceremony himself, sent a message saying ‘Congratulations to Rose Calendars for their achievement. I am naturally thrilled to have my work recognised in this way and hope to continue this trend through my exclusive partnership with them.’
The well attended event culminated in a ceremony during which we were presented with the following trophies:
Category ‘Best Corporate Stock Calendar – Contemporary/Innovative’
Winner: 2012 Iconic Structures Wall Calendar
Category ‘Best Corporate Stock Calendar – Scenic/Landscape’
Winner: 2012 Colin Prior Wall Calendar
Excellence Award for ‘Excellence in Production’
Winner: 2012 Mick Payton’s Natural Contrasts Wall Calendar
‘The Fred Kendrick Award for Outstanding Business Calendar of the Year’
Winner: 2012 Colin Prior Wall Calendar
The awards received prove once more that our continuous commitment to achieving the highest quality in calendar design is being widely recognised and rewarded.
All the above calendars have been marked with the NCA symbol in our 2013 brochure and on this website, which has recently seen the launch of the exciting new business calendar range for 2013, now offering over 120 different titles to choose from.
